About Me

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in Dutch language from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate from Hamline University. My language studies also include Czech, German, and Spanish.

The combination of languages and linguistics gives me a unique perspective and insight into the intricate relationship between language and culture. I’ve been fortunate to experience this first hand while living in the Czech Republic, Belgium, and the Netherlands. I currently reside in the United States.

I spent four years teaching English at the Berlitz School of Languages in Brno, Czech Republic and have over ten years of experience doing intercultural communications and cultural adjustment training for student participants with AFS Intercultural Programs.

Over the last fifteen years, I’ve done a variety of freelance writing including website verbiage, events coverage, feature articles, brochures, grants, cover letters & resumes, translation, and editing.

I enjoy writing fiction and like to explore the following themes: women's issues, the personal journey, the internal struggle of right and wrong in every day people, multi-culturalism, love, and how life is funny, yet true.

In my free time I love to knit, am a devout participant of a book club, and volunteer in my community. I am also passionate about promoting, celebrating, and inspiring positive change for the world.
